- Lovely shout out from my baby sister here: www.linkedin.com/posts/kimber... She does a different kind of programming, the one involving TV And TIL she hates packing!
- Dumb quiz...90s pop duo: ```py {'quartz', 'bauxite', 'stone', 'igneous'} ```

- Reposted by Matt GodboltStop worrying about others. They’re not thinking about you. Be kind. Sometimes there are more important things than being right. Happiness is a cat. When you stop trying to coax it on to your lap you’ll find it just magically appears there. In programming readability is king and always will be.

- Thrilled to share that @compiler-explorer.com has received a $10K grant from NVIDIA's FOSS Fund! This support will help keep our GPU instances running and allow developers worldwide to experiment with CUDA code. Thank you NVIDIA AI Dev for supporting open source tools! #NVIDIAGrant
- Time for my yearly blog update! xania.org ... Though "my" is perhaps stretching the truth in this case as you'll see :)
- My good boy, Monty
- Friends! My favourite* sister is doing the MoonWalk^ to raise money for breast cancer research! If you can possibly support her, I'd appreciate anything! Thanks! giving.give-star.com/microsite/wa... * and only ^ but actually walking forwards, not the MJ thing
- Hopefully an interesting overview of what's going on inside your (admittedly quite x86like) CPU. More in depth than my Computerphile videos anyway :)
- Ever wonder what happens between your code and the CPU? @matt.godbolt.org explores how modern processors & compilers boost performance—and what to do when they don’t.

- I'm starting to feel that coding with AI can be as exhausting as pair programming, if not more so. More so as each new conversation (or compaction) gives a new way for the AI to forget something important so you can never trust it 100%. It's still overall helpful...
- Another masterclass in explanation from The Engineer Guy: youtu.be/kU_gH36GG58. Teaching clarity to aspire to! Which reminds me I need to write another Computerphile episode....
- Despite initial misgivings I've been enjoying using Claude code to do some donkey work in some codebases. With a bit of cajoling I could see it being a useful tool to accelerate development on things provided closely monitored. However today it's just "wedging" on API calls and not returning....

- I've had a lovely week and a half visiting the UK: first ACCU, then ABUG, and then a couple of days with family. Bittersweet as always to leave, but looking forward to seeing my wife and dog. And my kids :) Then...time to sort out @compiler-explorer.com 's backlog!
