- 📢 NEW Will of the Month Post 📢 April's post explores the will of a Wiltshire gentleman who left remarkably detailed burial instructions He wished to be buried under the communion table, named his 6 coffin bearers, & even donated his funeral pall to the parish 1/2 sites.exeter.ac.uk/materialcult...
- Some seasonally appropriate reading this morning before the Easter weekend 🌷 Many of our wills mention 'the feaste of Easter' 📜 Testators would often leave money to the parish poor, and specify it should be distributed on feast days, e.g. '5 shillinges at Easter & 5 shillinges at Christmas' 1/2🧵
- Lovely example of royal connections in wills here - we've found similar mentions including 'my Cloath of Gold shoes made of one of King James’s Buskins that was at his Coronation'. 👠👑 You can find out more about this example on our blog: sites.exeter.ac.uk/materialcult... #history #Skystorians
