- In 1996, Exxon began spreading false claims that “scientific evidence remains inconclusive as to whether human activities affect global climate.” And since then, they've continued to spread disinformation and discredit climate science all for their profit.
- In 1959, renowned physicist Edward Teller told fossil fuel company executives that increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere "will be sufficient to melt the icecap and submerge . . . all the coastal cities."
- In 1982, Exxon's own climate scientist predicted climate change would lead to "a rise in sea level on the order of 5 meters... [and] would cause flooding on much of the U.S. East Coast.”
- The report includes an interactive timeline that reveals damning evidence of the fossil fuel industry knowing about climate change and pursuing an aggressive campaign to spread disinformation and discredit climate scientists so they could continue profiting off the destruction of the planet.
