We probably don’t need to have this conversation but, “the biggest reason humans have such a large impact on the environment is that we want to provide a high standard of living for a very large population of people” is very different from “I want human population to crash.”

There’s just too many people, period. Even if everyone today was living a Neolithic lifestyle the environmental impact of EIGHT BILLION humans would be completely unsustainable.
