- NEW: AOC dismantles the Republican bill, spelling out the incoming devastation: - Medicaid shredded - Hospitals shuttered - Premiums skyrocketing “We’re cutting healthcare from families who are suffering to pay for tax cuts for the rich. It’s a crime happening in front of the American people.”🔥
- Don't forget that without Medicaid lots of rural health care facilities will close. So even those who aren't on Medicaid will feel the punch.
- Write or call your Congressperson. This is very bad. 1) It's way to expensive, if the focus were actually cutting costs. 2) It means no one anywhere in the US can regulate AI for a decade...which is insanity. and 3) this mostly non-budget material is attached to a budget...which is just bad form.
- This is insane. Republicans have inserted language into the budget reconciliation bill that would ban states from regulating AI in any capacity for 10 years. from @404media.co www.404media.co/republicans-...
- Stocked up a bit today at the grocery. Nothing close to a full cart & with less than $10 of discount bin meat. Beans, rice, cucumber, radish, tinned chicken. Enough food to be the backbone of several months of meal planning. $190. Pre-pandemic my weekly was $40 with lots of fresh meat & veg
- Barrasso on Trump's doll austerity: "The president I think is very effective at using the bully pulpit, and he is using it I think to show strength and leadership of America."
- Sen. John Barrasso leaves the door open to voting to support the suspension of Habeas Corpus
- Timothy Syder - 20 Lessons on Tyranny - #17. Listen for dangerous words. Be alert to the use of the words extremism and terrorism. They are used as excuses to take power and expand the state. Be alive to the fatal notions of emergency and exception.

- This is who we need in our state and national legislatures!
- FED WATCH: “.. the dual mandate is under pressure on both sides, which risks a classic 1970s stagflation scenario .. “.. The Fed must follow a "Stag Policy" by keeping the Funds rate unnaturally higher even though the economy is at risk for a sharper downturn.”
- I lived through stagflation in the 70's and is sucked. Not looking forward to doing that again at my age.
- As someone who absolutely would have failed out of higher education if handwriting essays was required, I am begging professors to think about disability accommodation before going all in on combatting generative AI by requiring in-class essay writing by hand.
-
View full threadIf you are replying to this thread, please sweet jesus do not lecture me on how these kinds of disability accommodations work or that needing them is real. I literally had them! That's my point!
- I set up my classes from the perspective that if we accommodate as many as possible, then we make things easier for everyone. Not everything is possible in every class, we don't know that until we get away from the "but" arguments.

- “Your microphone works. Do you condemn this?” I asked my Republican colleagues — who say they care about antisemitism — if they condemn Trump pardoning neo-Nazis. Unfortunately, the party of “Jewish space lasers” doesn't give a damn about stopping antisemitism.
- Thank you @repcasar.bsky.social Keep calling them out! We all have to stand up to this tyranny and call it what it is: Fascism.
