Uncharismatic Megafauna
The second-worst part of your local library, as chosen by a panel of experts. I also do pictures, mostly for @lhardingwrites.bsky.social.
They/them
- Today's #MothMay is the Mother Shipton Moth, who has her many eyes on you.
- Today's #MothMay is the rave-ready Brimstone Moth.
- Today's #MothMay is the glamourous Ruby Tiger Moth!
- Taking incredible psychical damage by reading about escalating evil in politics on my lunch break, before getting back to work in a public library, meaning I'm one of the people who's expected to help people through the escalating evil somehow.
- Loving that being hypermobile in my 30s means that not only are my hands a little bit fucked forever, but now I get localised and fairly intense fatigue flare-ups in my hips and shoulders. "Joint hypermobility can improve with age" oh does it now.
- Today's #MothMay is the cozy-looking Barred Hook-tip Moth.
- How many moths does it take to pass the Bechdel Test? Here's a female Emperor Moth with some lovely sponge cake esque red and cream stripes for today's #MothMay.
- False alarm guys, the ghost of my Babcia actually elected me Pope.
- The library stinks of sulphur today so I guess the portal to hell finally broke containment.
- The one redeeming feature of the most annoying person at my trans meetup is that she will, inevitably, make a big announcement on social media if she's going that week, so we know to just wait until the next one comes along.
- Maybe what would fix Cambridge is an Everything Shop. A cavernous Zone where you go in for a plastic storage box and come out with an unspecified washing machine part, a football, a chocolate bar, a non-standard number of batteries, a drain catcher, and a clock with a backlit photo of a beach.
- Today's #MothMay is the very polite Scare Forester Moth.
- Just finished Siddhartha Deb's The Light At The End Of The World, and I'm grateful that it *made* me read it slowly. One of the best works of weird fiction/sci-fi I've ever read. Part Roadside Picnic, part impossibility-of-coherence in the vein of Supplication, intensely political and very good.
- Me: Compared to how I used to be, my arachnophobia is basically gone. The fucking leggiest spider in East Anglia: At last. Let me descend slowly from the ceiling so that we may partake of this shower together, as comrades and as brothers.
- It's Tuesday, and today's #MothMay is the classic/classy Scarlet Tiger Moth.
- The third #MothMay is Ethmia pusiella, in fashionable cow-print.
- When you ask me to pay rent, this is who you're asking.
- I have beheld and adored the flying invertebrate kitten.
- This is also how I would like to be treated.
- Sometimes I'm proud of Stokey. This is definitely one of those.
- Day 2 of #MothMay is Peppered Moth: coal-smoke-indicating friends who come in different flavours.
- My inner monologue is basically a helvítis fokking fokk sketch situation at the moment as I keep getting new forms of anger unlocked that I didn't know existed.
- Time to distract everyone from The Horrors with #MothMay! Here's a Mint Moth.
- [Name redacted] come off annual leave and meet me in the Aldi car park, I just wanna talk.
