Liberty View
Living on a hill that overlooks NY Harbor and the Statue of Liberty. Hoping that Liberty remains something more than just a statue in a harbor.

- Those of us born before there were vaccines for "those common childhood diseases" only had smallpox vaccinations. That's all there was. I was maybe 9 or 10 before the first polio vaccine was widely available. Luckily avoided that disease, but caught all the others.
- Ummm... Democracy?

View full threadWonder how it’s going with the penguins and the polar bears! Has he made a deal with them yet? Inquiring minds want to know. 🤪😂😂😂😂
- Kudos to the ingenious wag who set up the account that is giving voice to and assisting the penguins with public relations! It is now quite clear to me that the penguins would be doing a far better job running our American Administration if they were in charge. @heardislandgov.bsky.social
- we only have five billion years to evolve into a species of spacefaring cyborg-trucks so we better get cracking
- Long before then, Artificial Intelligence and robots will have developed to the point where they keep us in zoos like we keep lower primates. And, when they figure out spacefaring, they're not taking us.
- I mean, why would they? We need air, water, food, toilet facilities, and radiation shielding. Plus we don't live long enough to get anywhere, so on-board breeding facilities? All they need is electric power, a bucket of replacement parts, and a bit of joint lubricant.
- Sen. Bernie Sanders urged CBS News parent company Paramount not to settle the $20 billion lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump. In a letter to Paramount’s lead shareholder, Shari Redstone, Sanders argued that settling would be “a grave mistake.” wapo.st/4k9pK9H
- Last week, Paramount began mediation with Trump’s representatives about a possible settlement, though it’s unclear whether the parties will come to an agreement on a dollar figure that would be palatable to both sides. Read more here:
- IF that stupid, stupid lawsuit went to trial, and IF a jury found Paramount liable, it then moves to the damages stage. THERE WERE NO DAMAGES! Trump might win $1 (ONE DOLLAR). F•CK TRUMP -- call his bluff, go to trial!
- ‘Kennedy told reporters that there were "many, many good ways to treat measles and doctors need to know that and to know those methods.’ One problem; there is no treatment for measles. Signed, a doctor who’s been forced to deal with measles because of this stupid fraud.
- I had measles as a kid in the '50s. Doctors made housecalls. The only treatment I remember was fever management: aspirin, parents monitoring you 24 hours, ice packs, cold baths, cold enemas, whatever it took to keep your temperature from going over 106° where you might get brain damage. Misery.
- Oh, and calamine lotion. LOTS of calamine lotion to try to manage the itching, if you survived the fever.
- The secretary of wrestling education, Linda McMahon, sent a “scathing” letter to Harvard, telling them that they were no longer eligible to apply for grants, blah blah blah. This is Harvard‘s response. 😂💀

- The chucklefucks who make up Trump's cabinet are no better than a street gang of knuckle-dragging mooks. Other than fealty to the "boss" (a stupid fascist with Project 2025's playbook), they have nothing. Zero qualifications, abilities, or interests of the American Public.
- Congress could shut the tariffs down any time they want to, but they’re all in with the orange shitgibbon.
- There's a chance the courts could declare his tariffs illegal, too. The provision of law that would enable him to unilaterally set tariffs like he is now DOES NOT PERMIT IT under current conditions! It's an emergency provision, whose conditions are not met!
