- This dermatologist has 1.8 million followers on TikTok. I suspect most dermatologists know the evidence doesn't support taking 2.5 mg biotin a day, or hypochlorous acid for acne... but this kind of thing is now the public face of dermatology 🙃 #dermsky
- Just overheard my husband telling someone benzene wasn't a sunscreen ingredient, it was a byproduct of the manufacturing process 😮 Learning by osmosis works!

They were the ones who were responsible for making sure the air you breathe at your job isn’t going to give you cancer when you’re older or cause organ failure etc
- Nearly all of remaining staff at CDC's NIOSH received lay off notices today, we're told This is an org chart shared with us illustrating eliminated divisions to date Cuts had already upended approvals of new N95 respirators and probes of firefighter injuries www.cbsnews.com/news/worker-...

- I can't believe I made this?? With some string and two sticks??? 😍

- Dear fellow scientists, Please stop doing these smug unhelpful dunks. Don't pretend you don't know what they mean. It's a lazy strawman argument, and this kind of thing confirms all the worst stereotypes of scientists. Keep it in the group chat! Sincerely, PhD chemist and science communicator
- The problems with LLMs are massive, but I agree with Hank - I think they can be useful if you treat them like a 15 year old intern who doesn't know much, is massively overconfident, but is very eager to please...
- There's a new video going around on sunscreens being toxic, from a toxicologist who's no longer board certified... Reminder: sunscreens are very safe products, but the research on any "unnatural" substance can look very scary when taken out of context.
- How is One Nation my number 3 choice? Dire times #auspol
- Has anyone worked out a fix for dizzy spells months after having covid? For me I think it's some sort of sinus-related swelling, makes me have to lie down in bed a few afternoons a week.

- I'm begging science journalists to learn dose and concentration. "Detected" is useless information, there are atoms of heavy metals in everything. Dose = concentration x amount of toothpaste consumed The AAP recommends less than 1 ppb lead in drinking water. That means if you EAT a teaspoon...
- Did you hear that there's enough microplastics in your brain to make a plastic spoon? Turns out... there isn't.
- Almost none of this is true - the only phthalates found in cosmetics (outside of DEP which has a very different risk profile from other phthalates) are trace amounts leached from plastic packaging, which would be minimal exposure compared to every other plastic in your life
