Author: WebMage and Fallen Blade series, School for Sidekicks, Numismancer, Dragon Diaries, Morning Arrived, etc. Also local elected—I might be the head of a small government in a purple state, but don’t tell anyone.
- In 2025 I have lost all interest in investing time into things I'm not enjoying. Book feeling meh? I DNF it. TV show disappointed me? It is dead to me. I don't want to talk about it, I want to find something that brings me joy. I have so little time, I'm allotting 0% of it to things I don't love.
- Excellent life choice, go you!
- Voters: Forward! . Bad brains: Lets rehash decisions that cannot be undone.
- I don't stop being tired, sometimes I just pretend I can ignore it in order to have a rest that's not just sleep.
- I should have been asleep two hours ago. I'm not, because I can't face the thought of waking up at 0630 after six hours of sleep. Why does this result in me taking actions that drive me towards less sleep, you might ask? At least I can pretend my lack of sleep's a choice this way.
- The struggle is real! I cannot begin to say how many times I have stayed awake way past when I should have because I was trying to prevent tomorrow from coming by not going to sleep.
- Edna St. Vincent Millay—First Fig: “My candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends— It gives a lovely light!” Trying to be better about not doing this
- Not my strong suit, but…
- I don’t have time to be mad at the DNC, but this is a useful distinction.
- Very long day. Have a cat from earlier.
- Small SciFi hills on which I am willing to die: 1. You don't mean sentient. You mean sapient. 2. Aliens are not races. They are species. 3. A human is more likely to be able to reproduce with a strawberry than a Vulcan. (credit for this formulation goes to Robert Sawyer)

- I tend to agree with you, but fantasy RPGs plus a LOT of story material goes the other way. I would like to argue for static definitions, but have come to accept usage as the ruling structure because language shifts over time and that’s the mechanism.
- I love archives. Hoping to drop some semi-inherited material at the appropriate place this summer while doing other travels.
- Hmm. If we're taking the position that people misusing a term for long enough makes the incorrect usage right, how does that not apply to two as well?
- I feel like 2 is more in dispute, as it largely divides between fantasy and science fiction usages.
