- "YOU THINK YOU'RE SO GREAT BECAUSE YOU HAVE BOATS!" That I didn't know that line existed is an indictment of the decline in the meme culture. (taking advantage of this free weekend (!) to check out Napoleon) (confused about the utter lack of charisma, surely that was quite a key thing?)
- Apple TV is free to use this weekend — it started badly, but now has the highest quality benchmark for its TV shows. If you love high spec sci-fi, warm character comedy, and polished drama, it’s superb. My fave streamer by far I’ll post some recommebdatins below www.apple.com/tv-pr/news/2...
- Favourite part thus far: "uncover the cannons" -- "TADAAAAA!" (The subtitles claim he says 'cannons'. But he 100% yelled 'tadaaaa!')
- I think Trump has me rethinking what charisma means in political leadership. Maybe we’ve been thinking about power wrong.
- Fair point. Add to that Boris Johnson as well. But both do have sycophants around them — I don’t get the charisma, but they seem to have something of an impact on people. This feels… sterile… (plus Trump & Johnson never needed to convince to get to the centre of power, their dad’s money did that)
- I think it’s the bit of Napoleon’s story I’d like to know more about - who wanted him in power and how did they help that happen. Who are his sycophants as he moves up?Jan 4, 2025 22:18
