View full threadMore robust governance is necessary to ensure TSOs are delivering. Grid investments will be central to Europe’s future security & competitiveness. Yet levels of oversight & transparency is generally low. We encourage countries to follow the lead of the UK's independent NESO model.

- A lack of long-term vision is hampering progress. TSOs are often obliged to use outdated national energy plans to prepare for the future. These do not reflect growth in renewables, & can hold back investment & foresight needed to integrate renewables and storage.
- The good news is that the prize is within reach, with pockets of good practice showing feasibility. What's needed is political leadership. Through the report, we highlight best practice case studies to inspire action - like this great one in Denmark.
- Unsurprisingly, we find that grids remain a major bottleneck to clean economic growth. A conservative estimate suggests as of 2024-25, there were 1,700 GW of RES projects waiting for grid connections across 16 countries, represent billions of euros worth of investment being held back.
