- Convection clouds in #Titan! They are mostly driven by methane evaporation, given the extremely low temperatures (about -200 °C). It seems that the planetary body with atmosphere closer to that expected for ancient Earth, is well awake. By the way, Webb & Keck imagery are simply awesome!🤩 #PlanetSci
- NEW: Saturn’s moon Titan has weather similar to Earth’s, but driven by methane evaporation and condensation. Astronomers have found evidence for clouds bubbling up over Titan’s northern hemisphere for the first time, using #NASAWebb and Keck observatory: webbtelescope.pub/3GofvQ1 🔭 🧪
- A new preprint introduces a new candidate for #Planet9 according to a #Taiwanese team: t.co/tzzy6h9kVt It emphasizes the intrinsecal difficulty to reconstruct the orbit of extremely distant and eccentric planets. Tony Dunn nicely compares its orbit with Brown's candidate & Sedna #PlanetarySciences
- Better don't look at #ZillaDiodia
- Nice, but I wonder: a Troyan horse from alien worlds could be this size? #PlanetaryProtection
- The real problem is that normal people will be unable to find invented sentences generated by AI, so imagine the level of discredit if a text/manuscript made such a way arrives to a real expert... Scientific editors are identifying such behaviours in peer-reviewed ms. 😓 #DoNotUseWhatYouDoNotControl
- FULL #MOON EMPHASIZING THE BRIGHTEST IMPACT #CRATERS. Did you know that its surface is darkened by space weathering processes due to the absence of atmosphere? Then, the youngest craters appear brighter, like the excavated materials forming rays from them🤩🌔#MontsenyObservatory #PlanetSci

- Certainly it was not a planet killer, that should be at least about 1,000 km (Ceres-sized). Being Tycho crater 85 km in diameter, the asteroid probably was less than 10 km in diameter. Just a size comparison and more info about Lunar craters: science.nasa.gov/moon/lunar-c...
- 2) MAGNIFYING TWO REGIONS SURROUNDING #TYCHO AND #COPERNICUS we can exemplify that giant impacts were able to deliver fresh regolith materials thousands of km from both craters. These materials covered older terrains, consequently forming the rays carillon-dahlia-r2by.squarespace.com/joseptrigo/h...

- Next nights are the best for observing the #EtaAquariids from #Halley comet. So nice and distinguishable by their fast velocity and quite commonly exhibiting persistent trains. A nice example is the one imaged yesterday over Spain, see below 🤩👌👇 #PlanetarySciences

- NIGHT SKY FROM #BARCELONA DURING THE #BLACKOUT as imaged from #MontsenyObservatory. Just sharing some wide field shots showing the main stars and constellations after the sunset, with half of the power restored.🌃 Deep sky imagery in our web: carillon-dahlia-r2by.squarespace.com/joseptrigo/h...
- 2) LAST NIGHT LIGHT POLLUTION WAS REDUCED perhaps to the level of a decade ago. However, look right at the S horizon in the direction of #Barcelona with a good part of the recovered polygons. The light we emit into the sky is energy lost every night. We must protect the #DarkSky! 🤩 #Astrophotography
- The #Blackout seems to be related with a sucession of events causing an electrical "grid unstability". Among the factors might be a drop of power due to a natural fire near Perpinyà/Perpignan. A kind of #PerfectStorm affecting millions and exemplifying our extreme dependence of energy. For thought..

- VIDA A L'#EXOPLANETA K2-18b a 120 anys llum? Els espectres de la seva atmosfera fets amb el Telescopi #JamesWebb, suggereixen activitat microbiòtica (algues) per contenir sulfur i disulfur de dimetil. - Thanks David for pointing this great threat. If you look at my original post in X, I RTed there the skeptical view of Laura Kreidberg that I share. Certainly here that point was missing, but hopefully the 3rd post is clear enough. Really how the journalists fell into the trap should make us think!
Letters: arxiv.org/abs/2504.12267
Us ho explico a #Divul_cat: www.enciclopedia.cat/divulcat/Ast...
- And the rich still need more, why should we put the planet health as a priority (before wars, ethnic hate, etc...), right?
- NASA is threatened with a 50% cut to earth science. Meanwhile, the Europeans celebrate their space agency with flower rockets in parades.
- Flower parade in the Netherlands today... @esa.int with a great show, Ariane 6 rocket 🚀
- Not all Europeans. Most scientists are fighting at your side against the the new dictatorship of capital. Look carefully at our profiles.
