- Rich Hill signs with Royals, team announces. Minors deal. Hill, 45, will begin in AAA Omaha.
- Quietly, Francisco Lindor is an early MVP candidate again, even if Juan Soto and Pete Alonso are garnering most of the spring headlines. My full Lindor-appreciation column in Monday’s NY Post.
- The Tigers look like the AL’s best (sorry Yankees) but Bregman ultimately saw Boston and Fenway as his best fit. He was right about that.
- The Yankees may have a great one in George Lombard Jr. He could be the future third baseman, but at 19, it’s probably not this year. …
- Hey everyone here’s a gift link from me. Dave Waldstein with a great story about the Pope’s love of the White Sox UNLOCKED HERE: www.nytimes.com/2025/05/10/u...
- AL Central is suddenly a very serious division. 3 teams have a .600-plus winning percentage, another has the Pope’s blessing
- From my Post Sports+ column: The pitching injuries are getting crazy but aren’t evenly divided….. Cardinals: only one pitcher on the IL. Meantime, Orioles have nine (Zach Eflin could be back this weekend), and the Dodgers had as many as 12.
- In my Post Sports+ column this week: The Yankees may have a great one in George Lombard Jr. He could be the future third baseman, but at 19, it’s probably not this year…

- Paul DeJong has surgery scheduled for tomorrow to repair his sinuses and orbital plate. DeJong was hit in the face by a fastball April 15 but needed to wait to be ready for surgery. He’s expected to make a full recovery and be back this year. Hopefully sooner rather that later.
- Yankees would seem to have little choice but to move struggling Devin Williams out ot the closer role for now. He isn’t coming close to getting the job done. “Nothing’s working right now,” Williams admitted. One plus: They have Luke Weaver (0.00 ERA) who’s been dominant.

- Brewers are calling up Craig Yoho, who has a 0.00 ERA in the minors as well as a cool name.

- Nicky Lopez has elected free agency
- Young Tigers are showing late 2024 run was no fluke. Former 1-1’s Torkelson (1.049 OPS) and Mize (2.22 ERA) are killing it. Four starters with ERAs under 3, 5 relievers with ERAs under 2.

- Fifteen games into a 15-year commitment isn’t the time for Soto to lament missing Aaron Judge hitting behind him (1. He could have stayed 2. His Mets lineup protection, while not Judge, is pretty good!) nypost.com/2025/04/14/s...
- Yankees are going to need to keep out-hitting everyone — an MLB best 141 OPS plus — until their rotation regains health/form. Is it even possible? Link: nypost.com/2025/04/14/s...

- Great job by the Padres to lock up emerging superstar Jackson Merrill to a $135 million, nine-year deal. Considering their 7-0 start, cross Dylan Cease off the trade list. Tough to see the Padres selling. More @nypostsports.bsky.social
