- Strikes me that many of our "problematic" government officials these days are Ivy League graduates. I wonder how many Ivy League profs are looking to leave now that their former student are in charge. I also wonder if any lesson is being learned about teaching.
- Privilege.
- In a hearing today, 71-year-old Rep. Debbie Dingell fell asleep.
- Just stop.
- In the first 15 minutes of the E&C markup, the number 13.7 million uninsured has already come up twice. It's an exaggeration of what the GOP bill would do. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/13/u...
- Because the GOP bill does not keep the other program in place that’s the total effect. Perhaps you can tell the truth rather than trying to establish your both-sides bona fides?
- I have a hard time watching journalists high five each other over books on WH covering up for Biden. A diversion from their own deep culpability in Trump’s election. False equivalence, normalizing the abnormal, treating Trump as no real danger were the norm, not the exception
- Thank you. Will no one else say this?
- Self-identifying as a centrist is perhaps the most cynical and amoral political identity you can have because you're just openly admitting your beliefs aren't really beliefs they're just strategic positions that only exist relative to others in the room you happen to be in
- What a smug and ill-informed post. Try talking to people before making such broad statements.
- Dems who admire Biden need to resist the impulse to reflexively go after the Tapper Thompson book. It is, as far as I can tell so far, consistent with reports many of us here in DC have heard for a long time. The truth needs to be aired. Not to ascribe blame but to really understand why Dems lost.
- No thanks.
- Im sorry "strains bounds of propriety?" Did Mr. Darcy write this?! And also, here, here Jeff!
- And in the #BrokenTimes it "strains bounds of propriety." No. It is ILLEGAL and CORRUPT. If you cannot say that, you are not performing journalism. Trump’s Plan to Accept Luxury Jet From Qatar Strains Bounds of Propriety www.nytimes.com/2025/05/12/u...
- Worse, it sounds like Mr. Collins.
- No one enjoys saying cockpit more than Sean Duffy.
- Jefferson was gonna keep the Louisiana Purchase, but changed his mind at the last minute.
- It’s a good thing because Jefferson would have bankrupted it, and lost it, spendthrift that he was.
- A president accepting a $400M gift from a foreign power is per se corrupt. But our NYT betters say it is only “potentially corrupt” unless it is solicitation and acceptance of a bribe. Just learned about this because I had muted this smug idiot sophist months ago. Failing NYT, failing democracy.
