- There's nothing magic or brilliant about this, the fact that it frequently works is a reflection of conservatives' absolute control of the media environment
- “Increasingly often, [Trump] ends up backing down and simply declaring a win. His opponents appear to be catching on.” www.nytimes.com/2025/05/13/u...
- And conservative voters’ preference to be deceived instead of asked to face unpalatable truths (e.g. viewer exodus from Fox News when it briefly tried to tell them Trump lost the 2020 election).

- Laugh all you want. But, we have a little over 100 rolls of Charmin in the house. We’ll be trading them for food once the apocalypse starts. Your Euro gilts might be worth something if you actually had the physical certificates.
- TP is entry level prepping, I have enough Advil and Benadryl to last a decade.

- I do have some reservations about your likely Pope gif to news content ratio.

- Last year, I forgot I was supposed to do a fasting blood test at a late morning doctor’s appointment— had a vanilla latte on the way and forgot to mention it to my doctor, they were pretty alarmed at my results.
- What if I decide? What if this is an app that eschews AI or any other technological actor — for a buddy system?
- I actually would consider a buddy system with like 6 other people where we each get one day of the week to be glued to BlueSky and summarize the news of the day and take the other 6 days off aside from reading summary…you would probably make a good buddy.
- So here’s an app idea. You install it on your phone and it cleanses all of your devices of all news with the exception of a dozen or so things deemed — by some sort of AI thing — critical to your sustenance, such as whether or not a particular stock you own is up or down. $30 per month?
- Hardest of passes on an “AI thing” deciding whether or not I need to know a piece of news. Not saying this might not be popular for the masses, but seems downright dystopian to me.
- $7.50 a month. There’s a model for BlueSky.
- I’d probably pay 3-4x that a month before I started questioning if I should just quit following the news instead.
- How about 25 cents per day?
