- Probably more a debate than an interview, but a debate I'm happy to have: Will the Trump tariffs -- the actual Trump tariffs rather than some hypothetical he could have implemented -- will help bring jobs onshore?

Will go through it in this thread. tl;dr: this'd be the largest Medicaid cuts in history, kicking millions off their health insurance, leading to tens of thousands of additional deaths each year LOTS of bad stuff in this (but the very worst policy did not make it in)

View full threadmedicaid is supposed to be a lifeline for people. the foundational promise of a good society should be food, housing, and health. republicans want to break that for medicaid. and tomorrow we'll see text from the ag committee - where they'll call to break it for food, too.

- The deal apparently includes 13,000 tonnes in tariff free beef access to the US for UK farmers, and 13,000 tonnes in tariff free beef access to the UK for US farmers. No one's standards change. By way of context the tariff free quota Australian beef gets into the US is 448,214 tonnes per annum.
