I thank PBS for teaching me English as a 5 year old immigrant from the Dominican Republic, my love of writing and reading, as well as drawing. PBS has done alot for so many.

My son won a reading rainbow young author’s and illustrator award when he was 5. We never missed an episode.

I always thought LeVar Burton was such an intelligent man. His words echo today more than ever.

And the people said YES

The words he said in this speech are just as relevant today as when he said them 30 years ago. Well said, LeVar!

I remember watching an episode or two while in Library class in elementary. Loved it.

My love of reading, believe it or not, came from a public school education. I had some outstanding teachers.

I remember Levar making a huge impact on me first when he played the young “Kunta Kinte” the movie Roots. Then the impact he made with reading rainbow 🌈 I’m not an avid reader, I have to push myself to read. He made it fun to want to read and learn. PBS is a staple. All the programming is needed!

I hold quite a lot of respect for Levar Burton.

God when I was a kid there was so much food on PBS. Levar, Mr Rogers, and Square One defined my early life

Levar Burton was great as Jordie LaForge on STNG. But I also enjoyed his podcast, Levar Burton Reads.

He says the key words in this speech- kindness, truthfulness, and respect for all living things. None of those are qualities valued by the GOP.

That's a really nice thing to say. We all know he's a great guy and he does great work but hearing about it from someone that he actually effected is super cool.
