- Reposted by Jari MakinenIt now appears that the US space tracking network failed to detect the reentry infrared flare from the Kosmos-482 SA. We are left with the European radar data and model estimates such as those from the TU Delft group and from Roskosmos.
- #Cosmos482 has very likely re-entered now. Remember, there wasn't communication with it and we can't follow (yet) objects like this in real time. Have to wait for more info.
- Reposted by Jari MakinenMogelijke passages Kosmos 482 voor Nederland (daglicht): passages rond (+- enkel minuten, afhankelijk van precieze baanevolutie!): 6:35 MEZT (zeer laag); 8:05 MEZT (zeer hoog zuid); eventueel indien niet al down ook: 9:35 MEZT (laag zuid).
- Kyhäsin pikaisesti tällaisen pienen tietopaketin Kosmos 482:sta, huomenna alas putoavasta, Neuvostoliiton Venukseen lähettämästä, mutta jumiin Maan ympärille jääneestä luotaimesta.
- Meanwhile, around the moon: the next lunar lander, Ispace’s Resilience, arrived in lunar orbit after flying there slowly for about two months. Landing will happen on 5 June at the earliest.

Vuodatin hieman ajatuksia aiheesta @ursa.fi:n blogiin. (otsikko on ironiaa)

- Remembering today the first image of the Earth taken from the surface of another celestial body: NASA’s Surveyor-3 sent back this photo from the Lunar surface on 30 April 1967. Beautiful.
- So what has the basic research brought us? Remembering CERN today.
- #OnThisDay in 1993, CERN released the World Wide Web software to the public. Proposed by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the web was originally created to allow scientists and institutes working on CERN data to share information accurately and quickly from across the globe. #WorldWideWeb

- Hard hat on 9-10 May! Failed Soviet Venus lander will re-enter Earth’s atmosphere and fall somewhere btw 52°N and 52°S. This Venera-type lander was made to survive to Venus's surface, so our atmosphere is child's play for this 500-kg sphere…

- Severe and serious #aurora alert - I'll check also here in Bordeaux if this reaches also so low latitudes.
- Is it a plane? Is it a boat? Yes. Atol Aurora is both. Yours truly is now helping friends at Atol Aviation with communications & looking at aircraft at #AERO2025. Nice!
- Wanted to see #fram2 from Bordeaux, but it's complicated: no visible passes. I hope they enjoy the views more than I :-) (Check heavens-above.com for stuff like this)
- Reposted by Jari MakinenThe #Framonauts aboard #Fram2 are seeing something that no human eyes have seen before: both of our home world's polar regions in the same orbit. This is also an excellent preview of future #astrobiology expeditions to ice worlds such as Enceladus, Europa - and maybe Hoth ;-)
- Reposted by Jari MakinenSome footage from vol.no showing the rocket explode. Isar Aerospace CEO Daniel Metzler has confirmed that the rocket didn't blow up the pad.
- Not really the desired outcome, but as Isar's CEO Daniel Metzler stated, there are more reasons to be happy than sad. For a new company, getting a new rocket made from scratch and launched from a new launch pad is an enormous achievement.
- That was a short flight, sadly. But beautiful lift-off and important attempt.

- Isar Aerospace: The first test flight of #Spectrum is scrubbed due to unfavorable winds. Launch vehicle and range remain healthy, and the team is working to determine a new launch window together with @AndoyaSpace Spaceport. Well done team for today’s attempt.
- Isar: Standing by for the next weather update. Take a look at our snow-white beauty.
- Hopefully their 9 engines are roaring now!
- Surprisingly published today :-)
- I hope they do the launch better than the communication.
- It’s a launch (attempt) day! Maritime warning is on and Isar Aerospace writes on X: The countdown has started for the first test flight of Spectrum. Subject to weather, launch window opens from 12:30pm - 03.30pm CET.
- Reposted by Jari MakinenThis was a cornerstone of the Artemis Program. It was the way Jim Bridenstine sold the program to gain Congressional support. I can understand hiring on merit alone, but between this & other actions, its gone FAR beyond that. Its erasing history, and writing off the future. This isn't who we are.
- I’m fcking furious: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
- Let's see if I can ever go to the US after publishing this.
- That's what we have waited for: “Launch period for Isar Aerospace’s first test flight of launch vehicle Spectrum begins today. Subject to weather, safety and range infrastructure, the company is preparing to conduct the launch of Spectrum from Andøya Spaceport.” Text and photo from Isar’s statement.
- This is interesting! In 1963 there was a plan to launch satellites from continental France: from a site near Perpignan, eastwards over the Mediterranean Sea. Not a bad idea!
- Now in French Guyana, my 22nd visit here, now not only checking out rocket stuff, but also exploring this unique corner of South America. 32°C & humid feels good!
- Isar's first flight of the Spectrum launcher takes place possibly tomorrow at the Andøya Space Center. The launch window is 20-30 March 2025. Big step ahead in European space access!
- Ensimmäinen satelliittilaukaisu (läntisen) Euroopan mantereelta tapahtuu kenties jo ylihuomenna, kun saksalaisraketti yrittää nousta kiertoradalle Andøyasta, Norjasta. Kirjoitin tästä hieman @ursa.fi:n blogiini. Iso asia etenkin nykyisessä maailmanpoliittisessa tilanteessa!

- This is tragic for the Ukrainians, but also questionable marketing for the US military products. Who wants to buy those if the US can disable them when they want? Somehow, I also think the future Finnish F-35s and others purchased by the European countries.
