- I’m going to keep a running list of the books I’ve completed in 2025. I always aim for 50, but I lose count. I’m already behind because of travel, but I finished #1 last night. 1. A.A. Milne’s ‘The Red House Mystery,’ an amateur sleuth murder mystery from the creator of Winnie the Pooh.
- 2. Griffin Dunne’s memoir The Friday Afternoon Club. Funny, candid, and often incredibly moving. Come for the Carrie Fisher anecdotes, shed a couple tears when he describes the events leading up to and aftermath of his sister’s murder. #booksky #2024readingroster
- 3. A Gentle Murderer by Dorothy Salisbury Davis. A priest hears the confession of a man who’s just murdered a woman. He tries to uncover the man’s identity before he kills again — as a police detective engages in a parallel investigation, working at the case from the other end.
- 4. The History of Sketch Comedy by Keegan Michael Key & Elle Key “This my jam.” A good reminder that it’s okay to laugh — despite the all-consuming terror.
- 5. Real Americans by Rachel Kong Excellent novel about three generations of the Chinese American experience and the misunderstandings and half truths between parents and children. #booksky #2025readingrosterFeb 16, 2025 16:57
- 6. Doctor Sax by Jack Kerouac Divine, beguiling beauty hidden inside stream-of-conscience torrents about Kerouac’s working class New England roots mingles with macabre imagery to relate coming-of-age anxieties. Laborious and often seemingly aimless but hypnotic. #booksky #2025readingroster
- 7. Eminent Hipsters by Donald Fagan The man has an easy way with formal criticism, but the road diaries rambled on, as expected, cranky and fist-shakingly toward the clouds, with diminishing returns. #booksky #2025ReadingRoster
- 8. Moby-Dick or, The Whale by Herman Melville It is done. Ahab’s madness, drowned by the ancient sea. #booksky #2025ReadingRoster
