On this day in 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Works Progress Administration (WPA) via executive order. The public works program became a cornerstone of Roosevelt’s New Deal vision, employing more than three million people in the midst of the Great Depression.
May 6, 2025 19:50We here in TX still benefit from the WPA & CCC programs as shown by well made curbs marked WPA, cabins & shelters, made by CCC, still very much in use at state parks, and the list goes on.

My favorite project that came out of the New Deal is Red Rocks Amphitheater. I love this place. I made money driving concert goers home. I loved morning Yoga. And I loved attending performances every chance I could get. Public works stimulate the economy and create culture we can all enjoy.
