I don’t get why so few governments are taking the situation seriously. We had brexit ; which should have been a wake up call, but no.
Regulation of the algorithms & targeted political ads etc would be easy wins and doesn’t impact freedom of speech/press.
It's wild west , literally 🤷♂️ btw "Wild West" of outlaws, shootouts, and frontier justice last ~30-35 years. I hope we already close to understanding that we have 2 worlds now: physical and digital. And laws, protection, "border control" , responsibility - must be applied in both

Social media platforms needs to take a larger role in identifying fake content.
Also, people need to verify from multiple trusted sources before reposting, spreading content.
Most people won't research anything if a lie is pleasant ... doesn't contradict their "views" , and then lie is just become stronger , and boom! - Trump elected! Ruzzia is good! This is how it works 🤷♂️
