OpenAI's new image generator is genuinely remarkable--far superior to its oft-clunky, hallucination-prone predecessor. Based on only a few prompts, it produced more or less my dream cover design for my next book on Sully, Richelieu and Mazarin (drawing on 3 famous sculptures)
Along with more or less historically accurate Renaissance-style paintings of key episodes in each statesman's life--for example Sully's commanding of an artillery detachment at the battle of Coutras, or riding into battle wth Henri IV at Ivry.
Cardinal Richelieu at the siege of la Rochelle, and Mazarin (then a young papal envoy) riding in-between the Spanish and French armies in a desperate bid to prevent further bloodshed at the battle of Casale.
And then, perhaps my favorite, a distraught young Louis XIV at the deathbed of his mentor, godfather, and substitute father, Cardinal Mazarin.
