It's an agriculture subsidy, which is why it's run out of the USDA and why it has the limits on applicable foods it covers.
Of all the awful stuff in this reprehensible bill, the fact that your children stop being considered dependents at SEVEN may be the most horrifying detail.
The Ag Committee's part of the Reconciliation Bill raises the SNAP work requirement age for able-bodied adults without dependents from 54 to 64. It also changes the definition of "dependent child" from under 18 years to under 7 years old to determine "Able-bodied adult without dependents."

This is what I think Progressives actually get wrong about Americans. They aren’t all destitute and financially betrayed by the corporate Dem party, a whole LOT of these people are simply sick fucks who just revel in the misery of others and Trump has them eating well and bonding with each other.
I think you're missing a part of it. These people have completely naturalized the current system and environment as inevitable "human nature" so that the only pleasure they can even imagine is the cheap thrill of watching someone you hate being pushed down into the mud. Cruelty but also hopelessness
