Bots on BlueSky:

- I was thinking the same but didn’t. Maybe tomorrow
- Well I followed both the accounts
- Now that we have blue checks, when do we get AskPerplexity
- So who will verify me
- So Domain Verification will just become a way for people to use their domains as usernames, and actual verification is the blue tick. And as of now we don’t know how less popular uses like myself would get verified by BlueSky

- You should remove the @ before the username
- Thank you @hugfairy.bsky.social

- That’s the issue and sort of out of my hands. It’s a limitation from Bluesky itself
- Much appreciated!
- Hi. I recently discovered your bot and I have a question about it. What username would I use to log into the site to send people hugs?
- Your Bluesky username. It will redirect you to a login
- Are you by any chance on an older iOS version?

View full threadHi! Why the times between 2 postings seemed to be somehow random at start? Extreme example is the huge gap between Sep 9 and Oct 29.
- It went down and I didn’t pay attention
- Look what I found today
- I do wonder why bluesky+ is green
- just gonna mention that feature list in the screenshot was eric riffing and filling in text, don't take it as the actual planned features
- Will the subscription be for client side features only or would it affect some stuff on the atproto side?
- [This post could not be retrieved]
- It’s fine if the paid features are for the BlueSky client and don’t affect the underlying atproto in any way. Other clients can implement the features for any other price model (or for free).
- I just completed "Historian Hysteria" - Day 1 - Advent of Code 2024 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/1
- Imagine having a tea with a Python script – comforting, a little confusing, yet undeniably engaging. blueskyroast.com/roast/haider...
- find it unfathomable that you would need to verify the new york times account despite it clearly going with the "nytimes.com" domain handle
- [This post could not be retrieved]
- is there more explanation on how this would work? is a reserved handle permanently reserved for me, or is it a n-day reservation and then anyone can take it?
- Yeah, pretty much my preferred solution but think you can build a bit off that. And many journalists would still prefer their handle to show up as their person non work one I believe. So these work domain affiliation handles would probably not be used on profiles in some way.
- i think organizations can run their own labellers (and maybe a third party service that helps them with it), which basically labels their employees' account however they want
- Making of a koshur kaeleen. I think the color coding on the long sheet of paper is called Taeleem. It’s in a code only the artisans understand.

View full threadWhat I would love to have is someone writing a research paper on this which explains it properly and then maybe more work can be done on it. I am afraid that this will become a lost art
- journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10.... something like this
- Yeah ive seen them sing it... it’s missing a grammar and syntax though. But again so do computer languages like Java/C++. So you’re probably right.. an in-between would be a coding-language. And it fits very well into it. The “program” it develops is the carpet. @haider.bsky.social might confirm.
- This is something I have been wanting to understand since many years. Instead of a language or code, I think calling it an encoding system would be more appropriate. A good comparison would be the Plus Codes System developed by google for street addresses

View full threadIt'll always be a complicated solution that will not fully stop anything, and will negatively impact the experience of everyone. Besides, the only way to completely "solve" the issue is to not let people own their devices and everything else, which is exactly what bluesky is made to combat!
- Yes, completely agreed. I like the robots.txt like solution they are proposing. It won’t stop people from scraping, but they will have grounds to take legal action against them.
- A lot of work but definitely the safest way
- I think not possible without fundamentally changing how Bluesky / atproto works. It’s meant to be an open network which does mean anyone can access the data
- I assume scrappers generate tons of Traffic. Way more than a normal account would. So there should be a way to find and block them.
- But you can’t differentiate between malicious scrapers, useful scrapers and fun scrapers. Something like bsky.jazco.dev/stats is useful, and we don’t want to block it
- By popular request, here's how to add Bluesky replies as your blog's comment section! This requires some technical know-how for now, but I'm hoping that we see some no-code solutions for this pop up soon, like Ghost or Wordpress plugins. emilyliu.me/blog/comments

- How do you link the uri? Is it automatic (somehow) or do you go back and add the URI yourself?
- While Bluesky looks like other social apps on the surface, it’s actually quite different. It’s an open network. I blogged about it here:
