- They cared, but it never rose to the level of impeachment. I thought at the time-and still believe-that the country wasn't ready to go through another Watergate less than 15 years after the Nixon debacle. And, as you wrote, the economy was booming. Many people loved Saint Ronnie, so he got a pass.

- Yes, he did, on the back of an economic boom, his so-called "Morning in America" (although that boom arguably owed more to military stimulus than tax cuts). As a teenager during that era, I couldn't understand why he wasn't impeached over Iran-Contra. Perhaps it was his "I don't recall" defense.
