- Interesting that lower educated young women are almost equally likely to vote for the radical right as lower educated young men. Looks like radical right youth gender gaps may result from young women being more highly educated, on average? Also interesting for @roderikrekker.bsky.social
- Congrats! Interesting contribution to this debate!

- Thanks so much Cas! This was such an incredible experience, I mean, Irene Montero was sitting in the front row and nodding at my talk - such an honor! Thanks for your support in this :)
- It was a real honor to present my work to people who have made and continue to make history, and who work on securing the safety and equality of millions of people across Europe and the world every day.
- Especially in times of crises, women's rights are called into question (as Simone de Beauvoir said long ago and as clearly holds true today) - so now even more than ever, we need to safeguard and further advance our rights until all people can live safely and with equal opportunities.
- Authoritarianism and conservative gender attitudes go hand in hand.🤝 Amy Alexander and I wrote a Cambridge Element on exactly this relationship and, as of today, it is officially accepted for publication! Will share more soon :)

- #BTW25 My take on the #GermanElection: Social justice wins votes! Especially among youth, and young urban women in particular. Even though this campaign barely addressed social justice and was dominated by debates on immigration, domestic & international security, and economic growth, ...

View full threadFinally, Die Linke mobilized most strongly among former voters of the Greens, which voters did not consider as particularly competent on social justice (ranking last in this graph).
- All graphs are taken from here: www.tagesschau.de/wahl/archiv/...
- Among the most prominent and rising perceptions about Die Linke is that it is the party most concerned with and competent in social justice. Its voters indicate that social justice was their most important concern in this election.
- Compared to the established parties’ voters, Die Linke voters are less likely to perceive their own economic situation as good and more likely to perceive that things are rather unfair in Germany.
- ...it seems that social justice concerns drove the most surprising election result: The success of Die Linke. Die Linke consistently steered debates towards social justice issues. And social justice was among the top important issues for voters (ranking 1st with domestic security).

- This is partly in line with work by @yesolakweon.bsky.social & @jeonghyunkim.bsky.social on South Korea, & @rubenmathisen.bsky.social on Norway. It also speaks to work by @roderikrekker.bsky.social, @hudde.bsky.social & @tabouchadi.bsky.social.
- ...across all EU countries, the youth gender gap is insignificant in far-right voting, not detectable in immigration attitudes, and *most pronounced* in modern sexist attitudes. More research is needed on other behaviors/ attitudes, over-time dynamics and explanations for these findings.
