- Having just gone through this myself: a) Voice actors are artists that bring a huge amount of depth, nuance and flavor, even to non-fiction books like mine. b) Getting a book audio-recorded is shockingly cheap. Way cheaper than you'd expect. c) Fuck off. d) Hire @chrisnaturallyrp.bsky.social.
- Someone sent me this photo of my book at @waterstones.bsky.social and I am: a) Losing my mind; b) Never going to be able to convince my friends and family I didn't sneak it in there myself.
- "Keir Starmer to cap immigration at 0, blow up the arrivals terminals at all major UK airports and order the Royal Navy to shoot approaching vessels on sight - but in greatest Brexit betrayal yet, still refuses to allow us to hunt people with foreign vibes for sport! Only Farage can save us."
- 90 day suspension of US and Chinese tariffs on one another down up 10% (plus fentanyl, plus base). So a Chinese good that had a 2.5% tariff into the US in 2024 would be charged (10 + 10 + 2.5)% tariffs. xhnewsapi.xinhuaxmt.com/share/news?i...

- Huge thank you to the US and UK teams for putting this utterly ambiguous line in the text, so we all get to enjoy weeks of wild speculation. My best guess is they didn't actually agree a list but didn't want to delay the big VE day announce party and are hoping it all works itself out.
- 1/ UK-US Trade Deal: Pre-Thoughts a) I beg you to wait for the text before speculating wildly. b) While the 10% US tariff on everything from everywhere is annoying for the UK, the much higher tariffs on cars and steel is prohibitive.

View full thread4/ f) How binding any deal Trump signs proves in practice will depend almost entirely on his whims and perception of public reception. Basically, does he enjoy the signing ceremony and being hailed as a dealmaking god on Newsmax more than he enjoys the power rush of threatening and using tariffs.
- 5/ g) Treat with extreme scepticism any early claims that the deal dismantles Great Britain or turns the NHS into a sub-division of Pfizer. Equally, be really sceptical about any suggestion this is economically transformative or some grand achievement in statecraft. It's neither and that's ok.
