You need to think and do the hard work to build the skills to effectively wield the tools. But our attitude to university education is also to blame here: we treat it as a prereq for financial stability

In my day it was shared exam keys stolen or photocopied by an enterprising frat pledge or TA, now it’s AI. College is an extremely high-stakes game to have a good career, not a place to learn.
