Someone said today how it's not fair when their birthday falls on Christmas. I wondered if Jesus felt the same.

Monty Python lovers should visit Eric Idle’s Pythonline.com
Is there life left in the dead-parrot sketch? It has been 25 years since Monty Python was a living comedy troupe, but that has not stopped...
My first Internet was black and white, and then I got a color one.
The books, records, DVD-ROMs, PythOnline, O2 farewell reunion, Broadway musical... No one's done more for the Python brand than
@ericidle.bsky.social.
And it’s a great book.
It's a fantastic book - download it - buy it - or just borrow it and read it. The Dust Bowl Triolgy are worth the effort.
I watch the film every year or two. Keeps me grounded, and sane.

If I were Zelenskyy, I would never meet Putin in Turkey with Erdogan.
Can’t trust that guy.

OK, this is wild.
In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.
It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.
What the HELL?

For 9 days, the whole of our planet rang like a bell.
BONG BONG BONG.
We are all connected by bongs! (No, I don't mean....ok, I might try to disable the replies on this bit.)
And when the paper on all this was published a year later...
9/
...it concluded since the landslide was triggered by the melting glacier, and since *that* happened due to rising global temperatures...
This was a signal - and a warning - from our rapidly changing world, heard in every single part of it.
Best we listen up.

A rockslide-generated tsunami in a Greenland fjord rang Earth for 9 days
Climate change is increasingly predisposing polar regions to large landslides. Tsunamigenic landslides have occurred recently in Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat), but none have been reported from the east...
But then the waves refused to dissipate. They pounded back and forth across the fjord again and again...
The technical term for this is a SEICHE, pronounced “saysh” - a standing wave in a large body of water - and it can be dangerous as hell.
(In 1844, one in Lake Erie killed 78 people.)
7/
For 9 days, this seawater sloshed back and forth like disturbed bath-water, transferring energy into the bedrock of the fjord with every impact...
And that regular 90-second beat rippled out across the WHOLE DAMN WORLD.

Actually we were black and white - only that landing page went into color. Right?
My first Internet was black and white, and then I got a color one.
Yes, I think you are right. PythOnline might have been under new mismanagement by then.

She was a model booked for the shoot. The only time I met her. She posed perfectly.
1) From the NME with your good self on the other side. Presumably 1976 but the date was cut off. Was the woman ever in a Python sketch? She looks familiar. Note the first 2 words of the seller's name. 2) From Sounds music mag, April 1978. 3) From the US. About 3/4 of the price was for p+p
And the dust jacket is still funnier.
So let me get this straight: masks are bad and un-American if worn to fight a pandemic, but good if worn by people claiming to be government agents when they kidnap people off the street

Don’t actually own a NASA Mars prototype ATV, but if I did, that's where I would park it on Broadway. And that’s how I would lean on it.
The kids can’t hack live comedy these days 😂

100 years ago...Pic 1) shows you commiserating with me on twitter in June 2021 after l (once again) failed to win an ebay auction for The Rutland Dirty Weekend Book.
Pic 2) l finally got it in March 2023 plus those two other books, all for a stunning £20.

The other Lake Poets communicated the natural beauty of the Cumbrian district; this one never got past Rutland Water.
