When I’ve spoken to politicians in Westminster the mood is usually that they see Brexit was a mistake but they don’t believe it’s possible to rejoin, certainly not for several decades. They are reluctant to make promises they can’t keep. And sadly that’s what seems to be keeping us stuck.
So my question is always what **are** they going to do?
If they are not going to rejoin the EU anytime soon, then will they sign new mobility agreements in the interim?
If the EU refuses, then what?
I think it is extremely obvious that they won't do anything - and frankly given how divisive this whole thing is and the other challenges in the world (including reform) that is probably the right decision. What we need to do now is prioritise improving this country.
Mar 24, 2025 20:52If anyone wants FOM back they need to get it back themselves. Emigrating to Ireland and then surrendering your UK citizenship being the obvious and quickest route.
