The reason why I cry listening to these old songs isn't because I want to return to the past.
It's through music that I get to bear witness to all my past selves. I can see the girl and woman I used to be. She doesn't know I'm there.
I know my future self is here, right now, watching these tears.

I love this. I often listen to songs of the past and sit quietly thinking of times when my siblings and parents were together in my childhood home. Emotional but with happy tears.

Beautifully said. Chappelle Roan performed Pink Pony Club on SNL before election I cried so hard watching and celebrating a world for these kids & the next Gens to be and love themselves & each other. I still do. We owe it to them & ourselves to get there
