Got a 3rd party survey asking me if I will support target if they reinstate their DEI policy.
My response was a resounding “Fuck No”
Companies rolling back DEI did it despite years of evidence, so stop calling it a mistake. Companies that abandon DEI will be abandoned by us.
Apr 19, 2025 19:50For those messaging about asking “well why bother with boycotts if it’s not about reversing DEI”. You completely missed the fucking point.
Boycotting target was beyond reversing DEI. It’s sending a message that companies do not get the luxury of profiting off diversity and inclusion.
Targets abandonment is especially egregious given that it has for years profited off of performative celebration of marginalized communities. So. For them to crawl back and ask for forgiveness is beyond no at this point.
In other words, there is no forgiveness and no redemption. Once wrong, always wrong. Never make a mistake. The point of life is not to bring people over to your side, but to intimidate them into silence. Is that is what it means to be a progressive?
Idk, I feel like the point of a boycott is to incentivise the company to reverse their actions, right?
A boycott does not always need to serve as a mechanism for companies to reverse action.
This, I'm pleasantly surprised at how little I miss Target.
