One reason few people can wrap their head around the realization that the United States is in a full-fledged Constitutional crisis – is that Americans, gripped by fear & materialism, cannot imagine surrendering a lifetime’s accumulation of comfort & possessions in an effort to regain their freedom.
May 15, 2025 03:07Having my house burn down in the recent Eaton/Altadena fire was quite freeing. I now live in France.
U right. Most Americans as long as they have their big screen TV , phone & some $$$ , they could care less about freedom or the constitution They have no sense of history & just don't care
Said by someone who has never been poor. Have you ever had to live in your car or couch surfed because you didn't have a car? Or stayed in a crap job or a job you tolerated because you had no money for college? Quit bashing your countrymen.
The US was created by and for rich WASP men.
It's designed to create a gullible population controlled by patriotism. Told they're free, but don't ask any more questions.
Given an 'Enemy of the year' to fear and hate.
It's a scam. A corporate experiment, not a real country.
Religion is another controlling factor.
The whole place was F-ed up from the start, well before 1776.
Not necessarily “gripped by fear & materialism,” rather paralyzed by the chaos. If project 2025 is their roadmap, why can’t we predict next moves instead of reacting to each distraction? It’s the ADHD caused by lack of focusing on what is critical. Point to something tangible.
Full-fledged Constructional crisis?
I agree.
20 million illegal aliens is a Constitutional crisis.
A district judge obstructing the Federal govt from following Federal Law is a Constitutional crisis.
Sa botage their resources
phones wifi travel food road blocks pretend your angry strike shut them down, hydro
Your group is not acting
It wasn’t about regaining freedom. It was about hurting people. Period.
If a huge percentage of folks don't have a $1000 bucks for an emergency, 'materialism' can NOT be the problem.
Shift the blame back on to the Politicians who continue to bend the tax code in favor of the folks who have an extra million or two to donate to those same Politicians.
THEY did this.

Too bad we haven't been able to prove it yet
Most Americans are sleepwalking through their own downfall. The drug that is allowing them to do it is materialism. They will only wake up when they lose everything.
you're gonna win over lots of people with that argument 🙄
How about surrendering our lives??🤔
Nor should they have to.
36% are MAGA: they like dictatorship. 30% have no idea who is president.
Makes sense. Perhaps the loss of what they have now does indeed supersede their desire to pushback for fear of loss. One thing is certain, if we allow this to continue all will be lost anyway. The continued future threat is greater than the present feelings of loss by doing nothing!!
I wish I thought you were wrong. 😔
Exactly
It's because we're so used to privilege that it's taken for granted that everything will work, we can drink the water, the lights will stay on, etc.
America hasn't really had to suffer true deprivation since what, WWII rationing?
People are still using Amazon and Meta!
WTF?
Finally!
I have been waiting for someone to articulate this.
Nicely said 👍
Give it time.
The Trump admin is gutting healthcare and social security, gutting the institutions, and destroying the economy, while fleecing the federal purse through crony contracts and corruption.
The people soon will have nothing to lose.
Then we may see some movement.
Truth. Look at citizens who value personal freedoms more in the World - historically and now. Including in gulags / prisons.

True. Also they still live in the American dream. Now a nightmare.
The comfort zone is no buffer to unregulated spite or commissioned opportunism.
It doesn’t matter what you own, if your rights and security have been abducted and your values are too weak to get them back.
Each other is everything. Stuff is just decoration.
Americans won't do anything until they don't have anything.
Bingo. That and the notion that it can’t and won’t happen here for so long that even just talking about the possibility of fascism here puts you in the category of being an alarmist and dramatic. They may agree something feels different but they can’t bring themselves to believe it’s fascism.
Disagree
They had better get to wrapping their heads around it right now. This is actually going to end with the United States as a country ceasing to exist. The borders will be redrawn and the land will be annexed.
We are spoiled spoiled spoiled
The General Strike
The General strike -the people united shall never be stopped. If we strike together we can make true real change. Sign the strike card today.
This is true
Nonsense.
We need alternative information to grow. As a recently retired boomer (who has never watched FOX - that was my mother) I’m of course worried about Social Security and my retirement savings to get us through. That is many of our realities today.
100% true. Very sad.
Democracy can’t thrive when folks r stressed about basics like rent & food. Add widespread civic ignorance, & it’s no wonder people feel powerless. Education & engagement aren’t just nice, they’re the foundation we desperately need.
Exactly! "I got mines" is blaringly obvious.
So true.. was at a protest last month.. a speaker said there were more people in the drive-through line at a new restaurant that opened in town than people in line to vote last election..
Some are going to be surprised when it gets taken from them anyway.
There is also a lack of leadership. I mean LEADership. People in authority are *saying* it’s a crisis, but acting as though it’s business as usual. Nobody is willing to make the move that proves stopping the regime is worth risk and potential sacrifice. It can’t be too ‘serious’ if no one is acting.
they aren’t going to have a choice
It’s exactly this. The idea that they have to lose their way of life is a non-starter.
It'd be helpful if you could elaborate on that.
