We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drummin'

Then Gov. James A. Rhodes issued an UNSIGNED order to the National Guard to shoot protesters. It came a few weeks after then Gov. Ronald Reagan spoke of the Berkeley protester with his famous quote: "If it takes a bloodbath, then let's get it over with."
Today's targets are foreigners, LGBTQ.
😢😢😢😢❤️😡😡😡😡
So apt. ✌️🙏
I was in Kent Ohio in 1985 15yrs later and the locals still called Kent State Bullet U
Kent State is my Alma Mater I used to walk by the statue by the fine arts building where there’s still bullets in it and get such an eerie feeling. Touching the bullets was like having a vision of taking you back to that fateful day.. Knowing about what happened is in your introduction class to Kent
Thanks for the reminder.
Many people don’t know that this sculpture created by George Segal was commissioned by a private foundation for the Kent State campus to memorialize the tragic murders. Abraham and Isaac. Rejected by KSU board and president. It sits on Princeton U campus, unmarked.
I was a college freshman in very Republican Nixon-supporting Kansas. That was the day I became an adult and realized I couldn’t trust my government.
Thank you. Such a relief to honor these dead, instead of an action movie.
My 13th birthday
I will never forget
Thank you for remembering
We as Hs girls would stand up in a private girls school
In class and write this on our blackboard
In protest
"Find the cost of freedom buried in the ground." Must distinguish freedom from "a free-for-all"...
On May 15, 1970, at Jackson State College (now Jackson State University) in Jackson, Mississippi, city and state police confronted a group of students outside a campus dormitory-- police opened fire, killing two students and injuring twelve.https: //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackson_State_killings
How well I still hear it in my head.
The year I graduated from high school. I lived outside of town. All blocked off by police and military. It makes me so sad even now that I couldn't bear to walk down to the commemorati on
💪
Thank you for remembering.
Up until this very moment I thought it was “ten soldiers”
Nixon became the bad guy after LBJ had opened up the war, and it turned out Nixon was really the good guy in many ways. I remember reading about it in the ops room, and wondered why I was risking my life so that others may live. Why was I enduring so much pain from previous combat injury?
Local news when I was a kid and during NBA finals. Still angry.
Four dead in Ohio…and nothing learned by this dumb ass country.
Absolutely sickening. We need to remember and honor the victims by fighting for a world where such tragedies are prevented, not exploited. How can we best support organizations working towards gun violence prevention right now?
I remember it well - this song can still bring tears!
I was in high school. We were shocked and stunned. It was a crushing moment in the fight against the war.
I was in college at the time. One of the most unexplainable, despicable events of my lifetime.
My Alma mater. “Don’t ever forget”
I remember the famous photo of the young girl bending down to a wounded student at the Kent State protest where they brought in the Ohio National Guard. She was later identified as a 14 year old run away.

And we are heading toward martial law this summer..and lots of violence is likely. Why do we never learn?

💔
I remember that time like it was yesterday. It happened the year I graduated from HS. To this day I do not trust govt troops turned on citizens..
Fuck, I play this song a lot live, but I didn't realise it was may 4 th.
It encapsulates everything in a moment of honesty and genuine anger.
It should have changed everything
It still should.
I was finishing my second semester at a university in TX. Went to a philosophy class the next morning and the entire class was spent discussing the shootings and the war.
Kent State
May 4 1970. I think about it every year, nine injured too. Can I repost yours. This is a great tribute.
I was only 7 when this happened, but it REALLY affected me
Thank you for posting this remembrance today. I was a young hippie when this happened and it made me stronger in the rebellion.
Never forget Kent State..and don’t think for a minute it couldn’t happen again. This POS wouldn’t hesitate for a minute to call up troops to quell demonstrations on college campuses nor on our streets. And he would sit back & relish it just like he did Jan. 6 at the insurrection.
That was indeed a dark day for America.
I was 17 and the picture of the girl with her arms outstretched by the dead student still haunts me
A tragedy that should always be remembered and *never* forgotten.
💔
Thank you for posting that, Dr. Jack. I was in high school when that happened.
I was 20 and at university. We protested, it got a little dicey, and the college cancelled finals and sent us home.
May their memories be eternal. ☦️ I was ust 10 years old at the time, but I remember beig horrified and confused. Now , as a senior I'm beyond belief at what we are currently facing. Also ready and willing to resist thhis regime.
I remember it well
I was listening to this song just a couple of days ago.
