- Hopefully this will be my last post on the subject but this shit is so corrosive; it makes me furious. The vast majority of crimes have intent requirements, meaning things the state must prove about the mental state of the defendant. Virtually none of them require an explicit admission of that state

- TODAY the NYT publishes an investigation into the Trump memecoin $TRUMP and how it has turned into a extraordinary venue for foreign influence campaigns. What we are seeing is potentially corrupt attempts to change US policy by paying the Trump family money. This is no "Russian Hoax" nyti.ms/4kkv7D7

It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.

- The loyalty missions in Mass Effect 2 are some of the best content, really opening up some of the characters and their interactions. Also whether you do them or not impacts the quality of your endgame. It's of course your choice how you play, but I'd recommend them to get the most out of the game.

- I think that was what my instructor was saying. So much about takeoff and landing is the "feel" of the aircraft: attitude, power, etc. After ~100 hours on type I start to get familiar with the engine performance from the vibration. Lean/rich in particular starts to be about vibration and tone.

- if you are able to manage the flight director in your sim, I'd say that's pretty much a 1:1 cockpit skill
- To be fair, flight simulators back then were a pale shadow of what they are now, and these days there is a lot of fidelity in avionics, nav, comms, and general f/d that did not exist then. But even modern flight simulators don't really capture the "gut feel" of actual flight for me. YMMV.
- I think my instructor's admonition from all those years ago might not be repeated these days. A good xplane hotas home rig is tremendously capable. Absolutely on par with the IFR simulators you find in many flight schools. Also worth noting that IFR is all about learning to ignore "gut feel".

- When I started my practical flight training my instructor asked, "Do you do any flight simulation? If so stop now." It was solid advice. Fast forward a few decades and I'm rated on numerous aircraft (fixed and rotor) that I suck at flying in simulators. For me at least it doesn't translate well.
- people are getting mad at Hank about this but he’s just objectively correct here; there’s this pseudo-Luddite thing going on where folks insist that LLMs do not have any use cases despite that clearly not being true, particularly with how cheap they are to operate (you can run deepseek on a raspi)
