US exceptionalism is the ability to ignore/repress/buy off critics, remaining the exception to all other rogue nations bc the US was the most powerful. Schmitt at scale. The key was to pretend like it was with the best intentions, so everyone else could participate in the lie.

Yeah, but Trump thought he'd be enhancing American exceptionalism rather than ending it.
