- Anathema. “Lovelorn Rhapsody.” 1993. Who says death metal can’t be beautiful? 🍂 “Immune to pity, I’ve grown used to grief — the eternal tear reciprocates; where grass grows tall, golden carpets swell, whisper; Autumn trees will weep” Yeah, it’s the best death-doom song of all time afaic #metalsky
- Opeth. “Under the Weeping Moon” 1995. Exemplifying how the 90s underground pushed artistic boundaries. No major label would have even given this a 2nd look: 12 min death metal songs w/ acoustic guitars & a hybrid of 70s prog & folk. No band logo. No title. Just a pink orchid on black. #metalsky 🌺
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 1974. Dir: Tobe Hooper. This tracking shot — following her at ground level; the blue sky, clouds, her naked back exposed… then the pivot to the ‘trophy room’. You can *smell* the stench of rot. Some films are flawless because they simply cannot be improved upon. #filmsky
- The Devil’s Rain. Only Ernest Borgnine throwing the horns in ‘75, nothing to see here… 🤘
- The drop off in thrash album artwork between the 80s and 90s needs to be studied — bands went from Ed Repka to MS Paint 😭 #metalsky
