View full threadDuring WWII, my father was in the US Army and stationed in London for a time. His unit was presented (for ceremonial inspection, I suppose) to King George. The British liason told the soldiers that if the King came up to greet you as an individual, you were to bow before shaking his hand. 1/2
- 2/2 The US commander told the men not to bow, and let the liason know that America soldiers do not bow to kings. Later, they learned that it was indeed protocol for them to bow, at least per my dad's recollection.
