From here in BC, with great hydropower, I like to use hydro dam mega projects as a metric.

Couple of points;
#1 more efficient products are often better in other ways anyway: e.g. a more insulated, more efficient fridge rejects less heat onto the home and is less noisy. Ditto other appliances, broadly.
