I think (& the cops aptly demonstrated by entering the building with guns drawn) that bringing in the police means the possibility of deadly violence
Recognizing that, my question is: students' unauthorized presence in a building worth someone getting killed over?
And my answer is: absolutely not
No, it isn't worth a kid getting killed. If it were CU prez, I wouldn't call the cops, but to me it wasn't an obviously unreasonable call.
The CU takeover is distinguishable from, e.g. UT-Austin where the protest was in a park and TX State troops came ready to crack skulls to make Abbott happy.
Why is it "not obviously unreasonable" to send violent armed adults, with a well documented history of abuse and disregard for life, against students and create a situation where students could be seriously injured or killed when you say that its not worth it?
May 4, 2024 00:07Imagine a group of customers forcibly took over your restaurant, barricaded the doors, and would not leave until their demands were met. You don't wish them any harm, and certainly don't want anyone to die.
You might decide not to call the cops, but would calling them be obviously unreasonable?
Sorry to break it to you, if your stated goal is not to harm deliberately creating a situation in which harm is guaranteed to happen is quite unreasonable and illogical. Also you have not at all answered my question.
