- Found this interesting book whose thesis is that Kennedy's NSAM-263, which suggested beginning a withdrawal from Vietnam that would see most troops leave by 1965, was actually a political ploy that would allow him to manage public opinion while continuing aid to the South.

- I'm not Catholic, but I've often admired the Catholic Church, because of men like Francis. In the South, most religion is garbage -- garbage because most Southerners believe in a God who doesn't tell them "No." Francis was brave enough to tell the world that God isn't convenient.
