- Things most people don't take into account when whining about generative AI: -The lived experience of disabled people -Time management -Their arguments are the same ones people made of their preferred techniques, usually. -Spellcheck and grammar check are rudimentary text-based AI.
- YES, I have had the experience of having a professor complain that my sources were the same as the Wikipedia article... because that article plagiarized ME. That's what happens when you retool your own papers and turn them in for multiple classes.
- Me vs the common view of AI by the literati on bluesky, the bliterati...
- IF YOU DO NOT KNOW BASIC GRAMMAR AND FACT CHECKING YOU CANNOT EVALUATE YOUR AI-GENERATED PAPER IN SUCH A WAY TO GET ONE WORTH AN A. Sorry to yell, my fingers are pounding, so everything already feels like a yell. And yes, this appropriate with icing my hands. NOT MOVING with RA can be worse.
- I'm seriously thinking about writing a book called "What a professional ghostwriter thinks you don't understand about AI." I know AI can't do my job because I train AI for fun.
- I seriously believe in survival skills, but my understanding of emergency field medicine and fact-based herbalism and foraging will always beat your exceptional cursive. Teach the right skills for a post-apocalyptic future. Skills aren't better just for being older or I'd be rich and successful
- A teen who knows how to check sources and format their requests to generative AI in such a way that it doesn't confabulate, then uses it to generate a quality paper is more educated than kid who takes 9 hours to make the same paper an old fashioned way. I want the kid to know facts, not calligraphy.
- No, seriously, I might be the only person left who is out there defending kids with the FACT that a lot of people who think children aren't "properly" educated think so because they are defining properly educated in an ignorant way. Want I should say it in Latin to elucidate?
- NO HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT FOR CHILDREN SHOULD EVER BE ABOUT A KID'S TOLERANCE FOR PAIN OR ENDURANCE. Doesn't matter if a kid has a disability or not... we should not do it to able bodied kids, either. Telling kids to suck it up and work harder makes adults who don't leave abusive bosses.
