I'm biased bc I'm in costuming, but facial hair is a huge visual cue for people. Folks who vote on vibes (low info) are extra emotionally swayed by imagery. This is why maga go for flags and merch so much. they aren't confident in their opinion til they have multiple layers of nonverbal confirmation

This probably seems banal and vapid but I get to meditate on it as part of my job... and nonverbal communication, symbolism, imagery, appearance... it's just so essential to the mechanisms of fascism.
