Faculty friends at @ufl.edu, in response to Rufo's attack on Ono, r/wingers say "but he closed the U-M DEI office, he's one of us!" It is important to know that he was 100% pro-DEI as long as it earned him 1.3M/year at U-M. He closed our DEI office AFTER Florida offered him 3M/year.

Rufo's attack expose his vulnerability in this regard -- a long history of illegal wokery. He needed better credentials. Of course he had help from the Republican regents he hangs with (Weiser, Hubbard) and the Dem regents who for a while gave Hubbard all she wanted in exchange for crackdowns

but of course, Ono is also a conservative in his own right, so it's just as likely that he played the liberal for us--he had the most lucrative contract in public higher ed at UM, a record now beaten spectacularly by his new package.
