- How many donation solicitation emails are Dems sending these days? Not a betting woman usually but I think the answer is: A LOT
- So Medicare is being gutted and HHS is being run by an anti-modern medicine shill. Elected power is abdicating responsibility because they want to get off work early Please imagine “this is fine dog” in a burning room meme, but specifically the matapacos version being posted with this lamentation
- A reminder for all of us-

- It’s been said that the DSM’s criteria are behaviorist-based and pretty much a metric of how much we “bother” caretakers, teachers, etc. Also, those “behaviors” tend to be responses to traumas, both individual and repeated. It would be difficult to distill official criteria that’s nd-affirming
- Not personally a fan of the DSM, btw.

- This part is confusing: “…a bunch of mental health conditions as well as neurodiversity…” “Mental health” conditions are part of the ‘neurodivergent’ umbrella. All of them. “Neurodiversity” is a statement of biological fact that brains (neurotypes) are varied.

- Ok, read my replies as 2 polls instead of one. I also con Ed that you admitted they weren’t definitive. The problem is that many people are insisting that polls like these are definitive. Completely ignoring that the people who will be most affected by these programs won’t be asked.

- This is my point
- [Not loaded yet]
- But it isn’t a majority of disabled people. The poll you’re citing is one poll. One poll that not even close to *all* disabled people would even know about, or have access to participating in it. Using this one poll to negate *all* disabled people’s very real objections isn’t logical. Or moral.
- [Not loaded yet]
- “79% of disabled people” That’s 79% of disabled people who *had access* to that specific poll. What about disabled people under guardianship & someone makes this ‘choice’ for them? People that society has failed in myriad ways being given this as their only option? This topic needs more thought

- You’re definitely not the only one who dislikes it. We even have a term for it: inspiration porn. The stories almost never even quote the disabled person. It’s all about the warm fuzzies of everyone else. It’s dehumanizing.

- I wonder if their agent can act on this as their proxy? I reported it
- It’s in at least one blocklist, so maybe people just aren’t seeing it to report it? bsky.app/profile/did:...
- If you believe ‘my body, my choice’ I cannot understand why disabled people talking about the systemic barriers to QoL and those systems tendency to ignore autonomy of marginalized people isn’t simple to relate to. Many disabled people have any choice taken from them- now. It’s already happening

- Rain Man was more about savantism. Kim Peek was a major inspiration for Dustin Hoffman’s portrayal. Peel was once dx with autism but later study lead to Peek having FG syndrome, which better fit his ‘symptoms’. It’s tough that Rain Man still has such a pop culture grip on autism discourse.

- It isn’t a vs thing. They’re two different things.
- Pattern recognition is both terrible and wonderful. How do we stop the misinformation that occurs as movements spread? It leaves founding advocates constantly having to correct large ‘new ND’ accounts. It becomes a battle of ego instead of newer advocates learning movement history from founders
- Pardon my suspicion about anyone calling themself “wife guy”—
- Some are proud to snitch. They really believe they’re the good ones. Be very careful who you trust. If you need a list of who not to trust, check the politician’s comment section for volunteers.

- Gotta say, this comment section is a nice little block list for reactionary libs. So much for them “doing their own research.” I’d follow you just for that but I’m not into racing at all

- This reply section is a perfect example of why Cory wants to block reactionary libs. Not one of you looked at his profile and all assume he’s for maga. He’s not. And one of these commenters at he’s in some maga list- if so, he was put there by reactionary libs who don’t stop and check

- Only been here a week, and I was so happy to see that almost every post with an image had ALT text. With the X-odus continuing, my feed is full of images with no ALT text. Yeah, I’m venting about it a lot, for good reasons. Please use the ALT text feature when you post images.
- Ever think about how many “turkey dinners” houseless people are subjected to at this time of year? Because they need to eat, they deserve to eat. Most people could probably tolerate it for a few days but after that it’s a joy destroyer. And they deserve joy. Change up the menu options

- Somehow the r-word is getting into the feed, that’s not in your matching list is it?
- Using ALT text is great. Adding image descriptions is even better. Some people have turned image description into an art form. Consider it a challenge when you post images, be creative, be thorough.
- If you post a photo of a page from a book that’s all text and there’s no ALT text, you’re limiting accessibility. If you do use ALT text and you only tell me what the wall of text is about, you’re limiting accessibility. TIP: In some OS you can Select > Copy and paste all of the text in an image

- One of the things I like best about Bluesky is all of the posts reminding people to use ALT text for accessibility. Love that for us
- This quote also applies to Disability Justice and the Neurodiversity Movement. At worst, the history is misunderstood and misrepresented, erasing multiple activists’ lifework. “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana, The Life of Reason, 1905.
- These misinformation specialists also tend to be very popular, it’s a shame
