- Had some time to decompress. FWA just wasn't it. It wasn't great. I did ok, thanks to my beautiful roommates. Loved the hotel and the views and spaces it provided. But spending resources like PTO, money, and airline miles just for an experience that felt more like a chore than a vacation (cont)

- My roomie and I also felt that isolation. I think it was largely because the con was so big, so crowded, and so difficult to get anywhere and do anything that everything felt like a chore. Meeting up a friend was an expedition, and making new friends in person was incredibly difficult.
- This 👇 If you're a DJ, play for the crowd, not for your ego. I left the dances several times at LVFC because the music was not danceable.

- This kills me every time.
- Back from my first FWA, and while it was a decent time, it’s definitely my least favorite con. It’s just too big, way too crowded, and takes too long to get anywhere / do anything for my taste.

View full threadmy husband and I are always amazed that a lot of furry DJs seemingly never learned transitions. there's an urge to force songs which means the crowd either awkwardly stops and starts a completely different rhythm or more often just stops dancing completely there's no natural flow, just a setlist
- 100% agreed. There were so many sets that were clearly just a collection of individual songs that were mashed together. No matching rhythm, consistency in style, or thought given to how people might move to it. Also, lots of set ups for drops that just don’t happen. Such a letdown.
- Give me a DJ that only plays retro/nostalgia music and I'll be on that dance floor the entire time moving
- Yes! One of the most fun times I’ve had on a con dance floor was during a set that went through each decade (80’s - now), mixing in tons of great songs most folks knew. The energy was wild in there.

- 100% yes
- I think a good DJ can read the crowd and flow with (or direct) the energy in the room. But that’s really rare to see these days. I’m sure there are tons of great sets at cons I just haven’t been there for, but my experience has definitely been worse sets for a good few years.
- Which makes more heavily consider learning those skills so I can do my own sets even if just for my own enjoyment.
- Also, I need fur cons to get more DJs who play music people can actually dance to. The dances are my favorite part of the cons, but in the past 4 or so years it seems like something has changed and the music played isn’t something people can easily dance to.
- They change rhythms way too much, don’t transition well (or at all), or just play straight up noise. It’s unfortunate watching the crowd start to get into the music only to have it abruptly change and see everyone stop moving.
