- Reposted by JennMy AI ethics & policy news spreadsheet recently celebrated its 2 year anniversary. It is up to almost 1800 entries! My goal for the summer is to have at least weekly updates to coincide with getting back to video news rounds-ups... which I can post here as well if folks like :) bit.ly/ai-ethics-news

I replace components when the warning lights come on, but before they fail. 👴🏻How many components failed last week? 👩🏽🔧Well, none? You see I replace them before - 👴🏻You're fired!

- Reposted by JennThis is just a reminder that while you survive The Horrors, check in with yourself to see if you need to: Eat! Any food is better than no food. Hydrate! It doesn’t have to be plain water. Take meds! Hell yeah, science. Touch grass! Nature is cool. Play! Fun is self-care and fuel for the fight.

Many of my friends in DevRel, OSPO, program management, and engineering are looking for their next role, some have been searching for months. If you’re hiring, please consider sharing a link to your open roles below. TY ❤️
- I was a chemist, and I bake by feel. Room temperature, humidity, age of yeast, how spiteful the universe is at the moment, can have an affect on baking. That is why I mix it until it "feels" right adding more water or flour or whatever until it gets to that magical spot.
- Reposted by JennThe worst happened. We were DOGE’d. Our NSF funding is gone. So now there’s nothing stopping me from sharing Expert Voices Together, a crisis response system for US-based researchers and journalists facing harassment. It's a true passion project. 🧵 1/ expertvoicestogether.org
- I spoke with Science about scholars—myself included—self-censoring. In my case, my team and I feared losing our NSF funding for Expert Voices Together (expertvoicestogether.org), a program, ironically, built to support researchers and journalists under attack. www.science.org/content/arti...

- Hey friends of the MCBL: We need your help! Last week a locked garage that was overflow storage for the library was broken into, bikes taken, & $2,800 in damage done to the garage. We have insurance on all, but need help w/ deductibles to get rolling. secure.everyaction.com/P8gtfpBnWkav...

- Your periodic reminder that "fancy fonts" on places like Bluesky are unicode & are a nightmare for screen reader users. DON'T use for your name Not only that, good lucky having anyone search for you in the search bar by name. More examples in the original post on Masto: toot.cafe/@aardrian/11...
- Reposted by JennFriends, if someone posts a fun thread about something, you are not actually required to bring up Trump. It isn’t mandatory! I realize that the political situation is deep and dark and dreadful, but that’s kinda why we need a few seconds a day untainted by it.

- This is your friendly reminder that COVID is still a thing and masks work. My OT came back from a trip overseas where she caught COVID, I saw her the day she came back, and her first symptoms were two days later. She was out for a week and a half. I didn't get COVID.
- Reposted by JennI could have made so much more money if I didn’t have ethics. I did, so I didn’t. It’s a lot more important to me to be true to myself and what I believe is right. I’m sure a lot of people think I’m crazy for making those decisions. Frankly, I don’t understand those people and their choices either
- Reposted by JennThis is such bullshit.
- Some sad confirmation from @bcgl.bsky.social while I was at UW last week—the National Digital Newspaper Program—which builds Chronicling America—has been shut down Historical newspapers are probably the archival material most used by the general public—for genealogy, local history—it’s such a loss

Just because you haven’t seen them yet doesn’t mean they won’t happen. If he changes his mind in five minutes, they’ll still happen anyway

- I love it when bestie and I both are sluggish and don't wanna be at the gym and then we deadlift and everything is better. Bestie deadlifted 205 lbs just to prove to herself she still could do it. I deadlifted 135 lbs, my grip strength is my limiting factor and I forgot my straps.
- I mall walked this morning, hung out with my besties this afternoon at Crafternoon, and now home with leftover rice krispie treats. I needed a day like this. Good people, good food, good fun.
