When you watch these heartbreaking videos showing the cruel and thuggish behavior of ICE agents, remember that these people are not being FORCED to commit these acts — they do so willingly. They could quit their jobs at any time. They could say “enough!” ICE agents CHOOSE to do what they do.

As a general statement, saying people can *just quit* smacks of privilege; getting another job is not always an easy thing to do. They do have a choice in terms of how they conduct themselves though. The assumption that they are acting this way willingly is accurate.

Quitting a job on principle is not something that anyone can just do - many people live paycheck to paycheck. If you are able to just stop getting paid because you choose to do the honourable thing then you are in a privileged position. This has nothing to do with politics... or presidents.

I wouldn’t work for ICE because I have morals.
