Not for people who lost good-paying manufacturing job. Suppose we dropped protectionist barriers that keep out foreign doctors and their average pay dropped from $360k to something closer to the rich country average, like $180k. Has globalization raised the living standard of doctors?
May 6, 2025 11:43Some of that job loss isn't from "globalization" though but mechanization-- more productive technology in factories. This is a terrible analogy because doctors haven't been replaced by more productive machines (yet).
