Postdoc at the Centro de Astrobiología studying Galaxy Clusters and Evolution | Need a galaxy interaction modelled? | Scot | Often described as a 'bit of a nerd' | he/him
- Not a bad start to the year for observing.
- PhD? Completed mate.

- Thank you! I'm working as a postdoc now in Madrid at the Centro de Astrobiolgía. Turned to researching galaxy clusters!
- But seriously, it was an amazing 4 years working with @vrooje.net on galaxy interaction and galaxy evolution. Congrats to those who graduated at the same time as me: @izgarland.bsky.social, Jamie Dumayne, Heather Wade, Tom Cornish and Pascale Desmet. They're already doing amazing things!

- Sure! Using the coordinates, I pulled it up in ESASky and can see it's a little bit famous - got 7 papers written with it included. It's formal name is COSMOS2015 0823417, but I do prefer the ring of 'The BlueSky merger'

- Hi! Could I be added to this list as well? I am an astrophysicist who just started working at the Centro de Astrobiología in Madrid. My proof is from my previous institute (Lancaster University): www.research.lancs.ac.uk/portal/en/pe... And my ORCiD: 0000-0003-1217-4617
- Are you a student and fancy working at the European Space Agency for 6 months? The internship program is looking for applications!🧪🔭 Come work with me and the data science team in Madrid looking for anomalous galaxies in the Hubble Space Telescope and Euclid archives. jobs.esa.int/job/Madrid-I...
- In my project, the plan is to look for so-called jellyfish galaxies with machine learning. These are galaxies in extremely dense environments, where their internal gas is being stripped into long tendrils behind them (looking like a jellyfish).
- They are important laboratories for understanding the relation between gas, star formation, and ram pressure stripping in the most extreme environments in the universe. (HST image of ESO 137-001 for reference)

- Thanks for flagging! Only happened once and then seems to have gone back to normal... I have a feeling it's the actual image database going down - not what we control. Will try to find a work around.

- True, I'm not sure what's happened there 🤔 It has to be coming from the GZ archives, so it is the original image shown to volunteers.

- Thank you!! It needed your ideas to get made and @vrooje.bsky.social catalogue to work 😁 definitely a team effort!

- Perfect! 😊 Now, how to add emojis to the post data... 🤔

- True, it feels like a lot posting every hour at the moment. So, I'm considering reducing it to every 3rd hour tomorrow morning. With posting to the Astro feed, Im going to try to get it to repost there once or twice a day. Will need some tinkering and time to figure out though!
